Two Boys. Two Conversations. One Reason This Exists.
Earlier this year, we were on an outreach programme when we stopped to talk with a 15-year-old boy. We asked him a simple question: what does success look like to you?
He described a young man in his neighbourhood who had scammed someone online, gotten a car, and moved to a better part of town. That was his picture of success.
We spoke with another boy who had just finished secondary school with no plans for university. His exact words were "school na scam." He knew a musician who had blown up and was earning millions. Why bother?
These are not isolated stories. These are the narratives that young people across Nigeria are carrying into their futures every single day. And nobody is showing them anything different.
